We have an eclipse coming up this weekend. The last year and a half I have been tracking the eclipses - looking at how they touch different points in my natal chart. In theory, this would tell us how a specific eclipse will influence our lives, and if it will influence us strongly. If an eclipse aspects one of our main planets, like the Sun, Moon or the Ascendant, expect a big one.
There have been changes in my life over the past year, especially internal perspectives, but I don't feel those shifts corresponded to last year's eclipse themes.
This is not to imply that eclipses don't matter. I have definitely seen and felt the impact of eclipses in my natal chart, specifically that of the two eclipses that happened when I was still in the womb. The prenatal eclipses are meant to shape our mission in life, what we “teach by example.” I started looking into this six months ago when I stumbled across a book called Spiritual Astrology, by Jan Spiller.
The theory is that the prenatal Solar Eclipse tells us the gift we have to share with the world (our mission), and the prenatal Lunar Eclipse is the gift or treat that that the universe has for us. What I loved about Spiller’s approach is that you can’t fail your mission, but whether you enjoy it or not depends on how self-aware you are. Do you set a good example or a bad one?
But the real surprise was my Lunar Eclipse in Pisces. Spiritual Astrology tells us that the Pisces gift is developing our intuition. It is a sensitive, intuitive sign that connects with the other realms. Well, looking at my blog and considering the fact that I used to be very skeptical about all of these intuitive things - I am making the most of it!
This weekend's Solar Eclipse is in Piscis (2017) - it makes me wonder if it could be the one to connect with me on a personal level, as I am very engaged with Pisces activities. Stay tuned, eclipses play out over six months so I may be blogging for a while. Be sure to ground yourself as well, Pisces intuition is able to perceive it all!
Also, Jan Spiller has another book that I really like: Astrology for the Soul. It looks at how we sabotage our happiness. Both of her books require a LOT of introspection, journaling and an open heart.
