Reiki Milkshakes vs Energy Healing Smoothies

A couple weeks ago one of my friends asked if I thought it was sad that it is so much easier to promote myself as a Reiki Practitioner when my Energy Healing qualifications are "better". This is a question that I get a lot from the energy healing world. I can't ignore the fact that a lot of time, energy, and effort has gone into my Energy Healing qualification (and I'm still a student!). Fingers crossed I will pass my practical exam in May, after more than two years of classes, homework and dozens of case studies. The past two years have given me a solid base in energy management, clairvoyance, channeling and intuition. By comparison, a Reiki qualification can be relatively easy to get. Though it depends on the teacher; one weekend workshop is usually enough to get you started with Reiki.

Learning to channel Reiki is quicker because the teacher attunes you to the energy and then you just have to practice. Thinking about it and placing your hands on or near the area you want to heal is enough. Hands on, Reiki On. One workshop is all you need to become attuned to Reiki. This is enough for self-healings and also to give hands on healing to family and friends. It takes time for the flow of Reiki to build and with time you'll be able to channel more of it. The next weekend workshop attunes you to the Reiki Symbols for Power, Distant Healing and Mental and Emotional Healing. Strictly speaking, this is all you need to see clients professionally. How much time it takes depends on how much time and energy the individual dedicates to learning Reiki: studying the philosophy, channeling Reiki and learning to manage their energy successfully.

Initially, I signed up for Reiki I because I was curious. People asked me what the difference was between the two and I didn't know what to say.  I didn't want to sign up for another full blown healing course. Reiki is easy to learn so I though what the heck, let's sign up for a weekend workshop. I didn't expect to like it so much. If you ask me now, I'd say Reiki has a different flavour to it. It's like drinking a strawberry milkshake when you have had vanilla or pineapple smoothies all your life. I still love my smoothies but it is nice to alternate between the two.

The Reiki Philosophy is also something I have thoroughly enjoyed. The Five Reiki Principles are similar to Buddhism in that they teach you to be grounded, proactive and non-reactive. Yes, Reiki is easy to learn and it can be less work for students. I think that's a big plus. More people could learn to channel Reiki for themselves.

I also like the idea of being a Reiki Practitioner because it rhymes with my name. Reiki with Regina has a nice ring to it. What can I say! Before healing I was in marketing and promotions. It makes good business sense to start with Reiki. Even so, everything I have learned in healing school with make me a better healer overall. If a client wants a specialised energy healing session I can also offer that. We'll see how it goes. The next six months I am going to focus on Reiki.
